The Carbon Neutral House

McLean, Virginia

The Carbon Neutral House successfully combines the ethos of sustainability and great design. Developed as a highly collaborative design-build effort, the Carbon Neutral House was able to successfully complete the entire design and build effort while maintaining net zero carbon emissions- the first of its kind in the Eastern United States.

Swathes of native plants sweep across the property, culminating in a bio-retention rain garden along the Western edge of the property. A meticulously crafted garden occupies the back of the house, with a saltwater pool, fire pit and herb garden set against the backdrop of English Hornbeams.
